How Important is practice on the Drumset

Is training necessary? Of course, it's! It could not be the most entertaining activity on earth, but should you want to become an excellent drummer, you've got to practice your technique. So why exactly is training so important? Playing with great timing is vital for drummers, and it isn't something that can not be taught overnight but only after months and years of daily practice.

To improve your timing, try playing with a metronome. Set it at a moderate pace, like 90 BPM, and start playing a drum beat. If you feel Going Here comfortable at this speed, move the metronome's speed up a little, and go as fast as possible while still playing with correct form. It may be a little harsh to keep together with the beat the faster your game, but once you get the hang of it, try this little exercise to see just how far you've come.

Record yourself playing a drum beat with no metronome, then turn the metronome on and play the same beat in the same tempo. Can not notice a difference? Great! If not, keep trying, you'll get it so much time as you keep practicing.
